Yesterday, I went to my church's Tenebrae (Good Friday) service. Every year I cry. Not in a girly movie sense, but rather I am overwhelmed as I realize the burdens of Christ on the day of His crucifixion. It's an understatement to say Jesus Christ was fully human. The humiliation, loneliness, and depression Christ faced on Good Friday allowed his Divine Nature to be subject to human pain and suffering. At lunch today, the conversation turned towards the conflict taking place in Darfur, and the immense hopelessness and killing taking place there. In the midst of someone's suffering, pastors, churches, and Christians often find it difficult to comfort these individuals with God's love and hope. Yet Good Friday reminds the world of the suffering that Christ willingly experienced for us.

As for today, my heart struggles between the darkness of Good Friday and the celebration of Easter.
