I skipped over this video several times the past few days. Grateful to take the time tonight, beautiful reminder. Self-perceptions are dangerous. Those beliefs affect and change us. Instantly, I remember six young girls, confused and lied to about their identities, and how this significantly shaped them. What would this video look like if we described ourselves, not only the physical, and then God had his turn?
I'm not sure He would respond how many would expect, similarly to the strangers in this video. How do I know? Because He responded to the woman at the well, when no one else would draw water with her. He sees her sin, and he sees beyond it.
Especially weeks like this, when we are discouraged by human actions, unknowns, natural and chemical disasters. Take heart. God heals and restores, nothing is too broken for him. Remind yourself how God sees and seeks you.
"For
we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which
God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." (Ephesians 2:10)
"See
what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called
children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know
us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God's children now, and
what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears
we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is." (1 John 3:1-2)
